Adapting recruitment and onboarding processes for neurodivergent individuals

Adapting recruitment and onboarding processes for neurodivergent individuals

Neurodivergent individuals represent an untapped pool of talent in the world of work—yet during recruitment and hiring processes, their differences are often misunderstood or overlooked. This workshop is designed to support HR professionals in recognising and fairly assessing candidates who may present differently from neurotypical norms during interviews. By doing so, organisations can open the door to innovation, new perspectives, and truly inclusive growth. Participants will explore how to adapt recruitment and onboarding procedures to effectively include neurodivergent talent. We will examine the importance of neurodiversity, learn to identify and understand the specific needs and strengths of neurodivergent candidates, and design strategies for more accessible and equitable interviews and evaluations. The session also focuses on creating a welcoming onboarding experience, with an emphasis on reasonable adjustments and supportive communication from day one. Through hands-on activities, attendees will gain practical tools to help their organisations embrace neurodiversity—contributing to a more inclusive and forward-thinking workplace culture.
